After the water leaves Chaplain Reservoir, it enters these large channels called Flocculation Basins. A coagulant (alum) and polymer are added to allow small solid particles in the water to form into clumps so they can be easily filtered out. There are four basins and each one is 15-feet wide 125-feet long and 17-feet deep.

The alum and polymer are stored in these huge tanks next to the Flocculation Basins. These tanks hold about 30,000 gallons each.
