Control Room

The Contol Room houses the control panels and the computers that operate the plant. From this room the amount of water, the additives to the water and the working order of the equipment are regulated and monitored.
The Control Wall consists of panels, each of which has a unique function.

The first panel (at the left ) monitors the generators. The plant maintains two large generators in reserve in case of a power failure.

The telemetering instrumentation on the second panel is no longer used. It has been replaced by computers.

The circle charts are located on the third panel. It records the flow of water in and out of the plant on the round paper chart.

Every 24 hours, the operator removes a
completed chart and replaces it with a new chart.

The instruments on the bottom half of this panel show which pumps are active.
Operators can monitor and adjust the chemical feed levels at the fourth panel.
The fifth panel contains the instruments that indicate which filter is active and which filters need to be cleaned.
The last panel measures and reports the activity in the Flocculation Basins. This panel communicates how well the coagulant is doing its job. If more or less needs to be added to water in the Flocculation Basins the operator can make the necessary adjustments.
Much of the telemetry has been replaced with computers. Three computer screens help the operators keep a close eye on the amount and quality of the water throughout the filtration and disinfection process.
