Annual Hibulb Powwow
Description: “Keeping Our Traditions Alive” is the theme of the 18th annual Hibulb Powwow at Everett Community College.
The Hibulb (pronounced hee bulb) Powwow features traditional Native American dancing, drumming, singing, arts and crafts.
Grand entries are at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. The day includes a junior and senior princess and warrior and junior warrior contests.
The Hibulb Powwow was founded in 1990 to honor Native ancestors who once lived near the mouth of the Snohomish River. Hibulb was of the stronghold of the Snohomish peoples that thrived in the site just below Legion Park in Everett. Descendants of the people of Hibulb live today in the neighboring community of Tulalip. The Powwow is free and open to the public.

Cecilia Alvarez art
Description: Chicana artist Cecilia Alvarez' art is on display in Everett Community College's Russell Day Gallery May 12 through June 6. She will give a presentation at 1 p.m. May 29.
Alvarez is known for her artwork and advocacy of multi-culturalism in the Northwest. Alvarez' art and imagery strongly reflect her cultural heritage and experience as a Chicana in North American society. Her artwork has been featured in many books, magazines and other publications. In the last 10 years, Alvarez has been working almost exclusively, in public art.

Celestial Voyage
Description: The Everett Symphony Orchestra performs
"Classical IV: Celestial Voyage."
Come with us on an out-of-this-world voyage that will take you to celestial heights. The Orchestra combines the "Orb and Sceptre" (Coronation March) by Walton with the exciting "Concerto for Tuba" by Vaughan Williams along with a wonderful "Concerto for Accordion" by one of our favorites, Murl Allen Sanders. We will round out this musical voyage by performing the enrapturing "The Planets" by Holst.
With guests Kevin Pih on tuba and Murl Allen Sanders on accordion.
