Winter Weather - Be Aware, Be Prepared
Winter weather can hit anytime. Everett Transit normally operates during all weather conditions, but we may have to detour some routes. Buses may run late. If our routes are impacted by severe weather (such as snow and ice) we will update route information.
We'll post updates to Facebook, (www.Facebook.com/Everett.Transit), our customer service phone line, 425-257-7777, and also our city page (which you're reading right now).
*A PDF version of our snow routes booklet can be found at the bottom of this page. It contains information for the routes that have a designated snow route assigned.
Tips for riding the bus in snow and ice:
- Hills: Wait for the bus at the top or bottom of a hill closest to your normal stop
- Signal early that you want to stop; in icy conditions a bus needs more time to slow down/stop
- Wait until the bus stops and the door opens before approaching the bus
- Use handrails when getting on and off the bus
- Wear highly visible and warm clothing; you may be outside a few minutes longer than normal
Stuff a Bus is Back!
The annual Stuff a Bus charity drive returns this week for its 10th consecutive year.
Stuff a Bus is sponsored by the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 883 (ATU 883) in partnership with Fred Meyer and Everett Transit.
“Stuff a Bus has become a fixture at the Murphy’s Corner Fred Meyer store each December,” said Steve Oss, president of ATU 883. “We hope the community will help make this our best and biggest year yet, so we can serve even more families and children this holiday season.”
The goal of the campaign is to completely fill a 35-foot Everett Transit bus with donations for local families. Beginning Saturday, Nov. 30, volunteers will be on hand to accept nonperishable food, household items, and new, nonviolent-themed toys at Fred Meyer, 12906 Bothell-Everett Highway.
The bus will be available for donations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday from Nov. 30 through Dec. 15.
Stuff a Bus proceeds benefit local families supported by Volunteers of America Western Washington. In 2012, the community donated nearly 5,000 pounds of food and approximately $20,000 in household items and toys.
