Student Housing Pilot Project

Everett Planning Commission held a public hearing to consider an amendment to Ordinance No. 3380-14 related to a student housing pilot project for property located on the southwest corner of Oakes Avenue and California Street (meeting link).  That recommendation will be scheduled for a City Council public hearing on November 5, 2014, at their regular meeting beginning at 6:30 pm, in the City Council Chambers located in the William E. Moore Historic City Hall, 3002 Wetmore Avenue.

The proposed amendment would provide for the potential for non-subsidized, market rate housing in the event Trinity Lutheran College were to default on its master lease agreement and no other college would assume the lease for only student housing in the building.  The proposed change has been requested by the developer based upon feedback from the lender providing initial financing for the subject building.  The public is welcome to attend and provide testimony.

Background
On April 23, 2014, Everett City Council approved the adoption of an Ordinance establishing a pilot project for a building for approximately 100 rooms of student housing for Trinity Lutheran College, to be located on the southwest corner of California Street and Oakes Avenue.
