Student Housing Pilot Project

On April 23, 2014, Everett City Council approved the adoption of an Ordinance establishing a pilot project for a building for approximately 100 rooms of student housing for Trinity Lutheran College, to be located on the southwest corner of California Street and Oakes Avenue.

On February 18, 2014, Planning Commission recommended approval on three potential code amendments to the City’s Land Use Code to allow for a pilot project related to student housing. The proposed amendments include: 1) to determine that "student housing" is a permitted use in the downtown B-3 zone; 2) to determine what the required off-street parking standard should be for the use; and 3) to allow required off-street parking to be provided off-site. The third item is required for an amendment for both the zoning code parking standard, and the Multiple Family Property Tax Exemption of Everett Municipal Code (EMC) Chapter 3.78.
