The Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for the preparation of specifications for traffic signal hardware, signs and associated hardware, street lights and associated equipment. Traffic Engineering is also responsible for traffic studies such as traffic counts, parking surveys, vehicular movement, and impact of new developments as well as equipment required for safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the City's transportation network.
This division is responsible for the maintenance and service of about 150 signalized intersections, maintaining more than 20,000 street signs and painting 290 lane miles of City streets. Traffic Engineering also works closely with the Office of Neighborhoods to resolve neighborhood traffic issues.
