The Fire Prevention Bureau conducts plan reviews, new construction inspections, fire code inspections, public education and fire investigation for the city.
The bureau places its work emphasis on preventing fires. The fire department inspects more than 4,000 commercial occupancies each year, as well as each new building constructed. The result is an extremely low number of commercial fires, ensuring safety of occupants and business continuity within Everett.
Bureau personnel also participate in safety fairs, school presentations, neighborhood events and other public assemblies to provide fire and other “all-hazard” prevention training.
Investigators respond with suppression units to all large-loss fires or fires of undetermined origin to conduct post-fire investigations.
