The City has prepared an update to the development regulations for Critical Areas per Growth Management Act (GMA) requirements. The update addresses the Best Available Science (BAS) requirements described in WAC 365-195-900 to 365-195-925, and includes special consideration of conservation or protection measures necessary to preserve or enhance anadromous fisheries. 
 
The Growth Management Act identifies critical areas as any of the following:
• Wetlands
• Areas of critical recharging effect on aquifers used for potable water
• Fish and wildlife habitat conservation areas
• Frequently flooded areas
• Geologically hazardous areas
