Adopt a trail

The City of Everett Parks and Recreation Department provides approximately 21 miles of hiking and jogging trails within the community. You can adopt a trail by providing maintenance on all or a section of one of the identified trails.

Responsibilities
The organization or individual would perform a variety of routine trail maintenance duties.
Preformed at least once per month:
• Picking up debris and trash along the trail.
• Clearing the trail of rocks, sticks and debris.
• Cutting the brush and vegetation on city property away from
   the trail.
Preformed on an as needed basis:
• Blocking or closing unofficial side trails and switch back cutoffs.
• Relocating sections of trail as required.
• Maintaining and cleaning regulatory or informational signs.

Training & tools
Parks and Recreation Department staff will meet with your organization or group to demonstrate the needed techniques to accomplish the duties. The instruction will include the safe way to use the various tools and the safe way to do various tasks to avoid accidents. The Parks Department will supply all tools needed in the volunteer work, such as gloves, trash bags, clippers, etc.

Who to contact
Whenever a group is having a work party on the trail, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Jeff Price at 425-257-7314, who will work with forestry to provide a crew member to help. Also, please keep a record of the names of the people working on the trail each time and the amount of volunteer hours provided. A form will be provided to you for this information. This helps us by providing the information we need for our records.
