Web re-design

Welcome to the City of Everett’s re-designed website.

We have been serving you via the cyberspace for more than six years.  Several months ago, we decided it was time to update our look, organize information so it’s easier for you to find and re-evaluate 30,000 pages of content on our web.

We know the web is an important information tool for you -- more than 80,000 unique users hit our site each month. So, each step of the way of our redevelopment, we kept you, the user, in the forefront of our minds.

So, here’s our end result: A website with a fresh, clean look, lots of photographs of the people and places in our beautiful city, an organization to information that makes sense and, as you’ll see, we’ve even added a little pizzazz.

The pizzazz comes through the way we’ve designed the pages and organized the content. Our main page features an interactive banner made with a program called Flash! with a dynamic image of the Port of Everett’s marina.

Three main photo features give us the ability to highlight important news and events. We also keep the main page simple and informative by displaying our most current news with our Newsflash and events with our Upcoming Events.

We sorted our information in four categories: Live, Work, Play and City Hall.

We also kept some of our popular features such as “jump to a city service,” newsflash and our events calendar.

We’ve added new helpful features such as Highlights, Related Links and How Do I?  Our Highlights feature allows us to anticipate what it is you may be looking for on our website and display that in a very prominent place on the page.  Our Related Links are our version of “If you liked this site, you’ll like that site too” and our How Do I? allows us to answer popular questions in a very easy to understand format.

Here’s how the main categories work:

Live is all about – guess what – living in Everett. Here you’ll find information on neighborhoods, emergency preparedness, block watch and information about other vital services.

Work is all about working in Everett, starting a business in Everett and learning how to do business with the City of Everett.  Here, we give you quick links to business license information, city job openings and current city bids.

Play – of course – is all about playing in Everett.  Click on Play and you’ll find a list of must-see points of interest in Everett, information on parks and trails as well as how to connect with Everett’s Arts and Culture scene.

And, finally, our City Hall link takes you to the nuts and bolts of City government.  We provide an alphabetized list of our city departments and services for those of you who know exactly what you are looking for.

Please browse our new site.  We hope you enjoy your view from this new window into Everett.  As with any type of communication, sometimes there can be too much of a good thing.  If you see something you like, please let us know.  If you see something you think we can improve upon, please let us know about that too.

During this entire process, we kept you, the user, in mind.  And, we hope our new site has in some way inspired you to Live, Work or Play in Everett!

Happy surfing!
